Welcome aboard! London Nautical joins City of London Academies
Published: Sun 5 January 2025City of London Academies Trust is delighted to welcome aboard London Nautical in Lambeth, an educational institution that, like the City of London, draws upon a rich heritage in the capital.
Established over 100 years ago, London Nautical has adopted a number of different names and locations over the years, including being based in what is now our very own Galleywall Primary, before being evacuated to Wales during the Second World War. Now just a stone’s throw from the southbank of the Thames in Lambeth, what has never changed is the core purpose and belief in excellence and the highest expectations for all pupils.
Alongside a rich curriculum and memorable learning experiences, London Nautical is also uniquely positioned to offer Nautical Studies, maritime and water sports certificates and formal qualifications.
Having officially joined City of London Academies on 1st January 2025, Chief Executive of the Trust, Mark Emmerson, welcomed aboard London Nautical students, families and staff, saying:
London Nautical shares our belief in the highest expectations for all pupils. We are excited to welcome them into our community, and look forward to building upon the strong foundations of high standards, coupled with a relentless focus on improving the quality of teaching, learning and engagement.
Sharing news of the partnership with students and parents, Headteacher Michael Schofield said:
“We are delighted to start the new year by starting an exciting new chapter with the City of London, building on our proud traditions while embracing the opportunities this new partnership will bring, driving school improvement and educational standards.”
